India Adds More Spice to the IioT Through a New LoRa Platform

By Shrey Fadia

SenRa, one of the fastest growing IIoT companies on the planet, having implemented nearly one city per month in many of India’s largest cities, today announced the availability of their new Ginjer IoT and IIoT management platform.

With an emphasis on streamlining operations through an easier device provisioning system, but more importantly on the generation of information and analytics once those devices are connected to a network solution, the company said in a press release today, they will provide a “true end-to-end IoT solution offerings while still ensuring a very competitive price.”

While SenRa’s advancement of IIoT networks for smart cities across India has been widely reported on (even as the country continues to invest significant resources in improving how urban areas operate today).

PWC reported that IoT was only a $130 million market in India a few years ago, but that the government’s objective is to develop the industry to the tune of $15 billion by 2020.

Other analyst reports generally agree with PWC’s forecast, saying the number of IoT devices in India is expected to increase significantly from roughly 200 million units in 2016 to 2.7 billion units by 2020.

The adoption of these devices will make India a leader in the space, with the IoT market in the country potentially contributing 5% of to the global industry, which seems to be attracting tech giants headquartered outside India, with Ericsson, Amazon, and Samsung who announced investments and projects last year.

India’s IoT journey arguably began in earnest when Qualcomm Ventures and Cisco invested $43.3 million in Hyderabad-based system-on-chip design company Ineda Systems back in 2013. Since then many companies, some large (like Tata Communications) and many start-ups (like SenRa) have been driving well beyond POCs into real-world, often basic but significant implementations.

The introduction of not just local network services but now a complete cloud-based, Software as a Service (SaaS) offering marks the beginning of SenRa's global market. The company says, “The Ginjer IoT Analytics Platform introduces a new low-cost approach in deploying IoT solutions while still keeping the quality, scalability, and reliability of SenRa services intact.”

"We are really excited about the announcement of Ginjer. Our team has worked hard to solve core problems companies face when selecting an IoT platform for their projects." said Ali Hosseini, Chief Executive Officer of SenRa. He says "Companies are looking for IoT platforms to be affordable and still have powerful reporting tools, data visualization capabilities, and device management capabilities. Ginjer does that and more."

Applications include uPark, a LoRaWAN based smart parking solution, and CleanBin, a LoRaWAN-based smart bin solution in India. Both solutions have already been deployed in smart city and smart campus projects.  Ginjer is also agnostic to communication protocols providing customers the ability to leverage SenRa's IoT platform with or without SenRa's network services.

"Ginjer marks our foray into secure IoT Application Enablement Platform with features like customizable device clusters, report generation, user access and license management" said Kush Mishra, CTO, SenRa. "We believe that Ginjer, coupled with our Network services will tremendously boost the overall value of our offerings."
